Canadian rapper and producer Freddie Dredd is one of the architects of modern phonk, fusing bare-bones Memphis trap beats, chopped-and-screwed effects, and cryptic lo-fi flows into a sound he describes as "ominous, lo-fi, and a little bit warped, like a tape that's been left on the dashboard." His viral singles "Cha Cha" and "Opaul" built a massive online following, and his 2024 album Cease & Disintegrate shows he has only sharpened his craft since.
